Promoting Thinking Skills through Comprehension Strategies
If we want students to think, we need to teach them to think, if we want students to understand what they read, we need to teach our students comprehension strategies. Participants will learn how to use explicit instruction and modeling to teach all levels of comprehension strategies, thus dramatically improving reading comprehension.

Improve your English and learn strategies to help your students in taking the TOEIC test and be successful at it. This workshop aims to develop abilities and strategies for a better understanding of the contents, the structure and the directions for the test and a major use of the allotted time given for it.

TopGuided Reading
This course will cover the basics of Guided Reading, from research to the realities of today’s classroom. Topics covered include how to group for instruction, what to do with the rest of the class when meeting with small groups, how to select text on the “just-right” level for each student, and how to implement, manage, and assess effective guided reading lessons.

Handling Developmental and Clinical Issues in Preschool Children
Developmental and clinical issues are often the biggest obstacle in the preschool environment. In this course, participants will be presented with tools to address common developmental issues. A special emphasis will be placed on how to communicate with the families of these children and when to recommend professional help.

Fostering the Development of Executive Functions in Children
Executive functions are a set of cognitive abilities that control and regulate other abilities and behaviors. Participants will explore the brain science behind executive functions, as well as how to strengthen them, and learn how these abilities influence healthy development in the classroom and beyond.

Emergent Literacy
Recent research clearly shows the impact and importance of developing literacy skills in preschool in order to help students be more successful in later years. Phonemic awareness, phonics, and oral language development are strong predictors for success in reading. Parenting and Literacy: How Parents can Support their Children’s Engagement in Literacy
Parents play a very important role in literacy acquisition, as they are the ones who are with their children in the world outside the classroom. In this workshop, parents will learn how to foster the process of literacy acquisition, and how to use strategies to promote literacy: joint writing, collaborative narratives, book reading, etc.
